Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-08-28T04:12Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
Activity ID: 2024-08-28T04:12:00-CME-001 (version 2)
Source Location: S10E90
Note Keyword:
PRM: Prominence material (filamentary structures)
Source Signature Keyword:
PEA: Post eruption arcade
FIL: Filament eruption
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
Morphology Keyword:
L: Loop
Note: Bright CME first seen in the East by SOHO LASCO C2 beginning at 2024-08-28T04:12Z as well as by C3 and STEREO A COR2 in later frames. The source of this event is the eruption of a loop like filament sitting on or just beyond the East limb centered at approximately S10E90 as seen in SDO AIA, GOES SUVI and STEREO A EUVI 304. Field line opening is also visible in SDO AIA 171, 193, 211, GOES SUVI 284 and STEREO A EUVI 195, along with post eruptive arcades seen in SDO AIA 94 and 131. This filament erupted in two portions, the first appearing as a streamer outflow, followed by the main expulsion of material. In the coronagraphs, this appears as two leading edges, a further out one that is lopsided and faint and a closer in one that is more central and bright. Parameters of this event are based on the more central, brightest portion of this CME, as that is where the bulk of the material resides.

Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG LE true SWPC_CAT -95.0 10.0 758.0 C 38.0 2024-08-28T10:10Z Measurement based on source location and best fit between SOHO LASCO C3 and STEREO A COR2. The CME had not developed fully in SOHO LASCO C2 frames and was not well representative of the overall features, so only C3 and COR2A were used for this measurement. A slightly faster, more narrow and fainter feature is also observed ahead of the main bulk of this CME but has been deemed inconsequential. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
