Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-09-19T06:12Z ( SOHO: LASCO/C2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
Activity ID: 2024-09-19T06:12:00-CME-001 (version 1)
Source Location: N50W40
Note Keyword:
3P: 3-part structure CME
Source Signature Keyword:
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
DIM: Dimming
Morphology Keyword:
F: Flux Rope
Note: Lightbulb-shaped CME seen to the NW in SOHO LASCO C2/C3 and STEREO A COR2. The source is a long and narrow horizontal area of very gradual dimming and gradual field line movement seen centered at N50 and stretching from E20 to W70 in SDO AIA 193 / 171. It is difficult to pin down an exact start time for the field line movement at this area on the disk, but best estimate is 2024-09-19T04:54Z as seen in SDO AIA 193, with dimming becoming more clear by 07:50Z. Subtle field line movement can be seen on the NW limb starting as early as 2024-09-19T05:48Z in SDO AIA 171/193. GOES SUVI instruments were in an eclipse at and around these timestamps.

Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type |

Best fit using several frames of C2/C3 and COR2A, and source location as seen in SDO AIA imagery. The outermost 'layer' of this CME in COR2A difference imagery, i.e. the leading edge, becomes progressively more faint in later frames of COR2A, but can still be tracked as it remains relatively more visible near the legs of the CME. |
