Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-07-23T00:23Z ( STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
Activity ID: 2024-07-23T00:23:00-CME-001 (version 1)
Note Keyword:
HAL: Halo CME
Source Signature Keyword:
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
Morphology Keyword:
Note: This CME is visible as a far-sided halo in SOHO LASCO C2/C3 and STEREO A COR2 imagery, with the bulk of the material directed towards the northwest. The source is likely far-sided as faint field line movement is visible beyond the northwest limb in SDO AIA 171, 193 and GOES SUVI 171, 193, 284 imagery starting around 2024-07-22T23:30Z.

Event Type Catalog
Measurement TypeCME measurement type: Leading Edge (LE), Shock Front (SH), Right Hand Boundary (RHB), Left Hand Boundary (LHB), Black/White Boundary (BW), Prominence Core (COR), Disconnection Front (DIS), Trailing Edge (TE).
Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type

As the source is far-sided and a precise source location is unknown, the measured parameters may vary slightly.. Multiple measurements produced speeds ranging from 1277 km/s to 1544 km/s and longitudes spanning 170 to 176 degrees. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)

CME Analysis M2M_CATALOG SH true SWPC_CAT 176.0 4.0 1544.0 O 47.0 2024-07-23T02:24Z Measurement of the possible shock feature based on the best fit between SOHO LASCO C2/C3 and STEREO A COR2 imagery. Multiple shock measurements produced speeds ranging from 1544 km/s to 1691 km/s. It is difficult to obtain a decent fit of the entire shock feature in both SOHO LASCO C2/C3 and STEREO A COR2 imagery. This measurement therefore focuses on the brighter, northern shock feature without compromising on the fit between coronagraphs. 1: Result 1 (2.0 AU)
