Coronal Mass Ejection
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Start Time: 2024-05-18T13:38Z ( STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2 )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
STEREO A: SECCHI/COR2
SOHO: LASCO/C2
SOHO: LASCO/C3
Activity ID: 2024-05-18T13:38:00-CME-001 (version 1)
Note Keyword:
Faint: Faint event; may affect type assignment
GAP: Data gap
OVR: Event partially overlaps with another CME
Source Signature Keyword:
FIL: Filament eruption
OFL: Moving/Opening field lines
Morphology Keyword:
F: Flux Rope
Note: This CME is visible to the W in STEREO A COR2 and SOHO LASCO C2/C3. Imagery of this CME was affected by the scheduled calibration maneuvers which entailed a reduction in LASCO imagery cadence. Source is narrow ejecta seen from beyond the W limb at an apparent latitude of S20 starting at 2024-05-18T12:37Z in SDO AIA 304/171 and GOES SUVI 304.

Prime?"primary flag" which is either True or False. If there are multiple CME analysis entries for a single CME, this flag would indicate which analysis is considered most accurate per measurement type. This is a helpful flag if you would like to download only one most accurate CME analysis per CME per Measurement Type |

Measurement of a faint leading edge in StereoCAT using only STEREO A COR2 imagery. STEREO A was located at a heliographic (HEEQ) longitude of +13 at the time of this eruption, which places STEREO-A's plane of sky in longitude W103 if viewed from the Earth and SDO points of view. The candidate source of this CME is just beyond the SW limb and at an apparent latitude of about S20 as seen in SDO AIA 304 and GOES SUVI 304, so a plane-of-sky measurement using STEREO A COR2 imagery could possibly be considered reasonable for ascertaining an accurate measurement. This measurement is still very uncertain though, due to uncertainty of the exact source location longitude and limited available SOHO LASCO imagery (due to the scheduled maneuver affecting LASCO imagery cadence). |
